I saw a quote posted in a Facebook group a few weeks ago that said “They say it takes a village to raise a child. But you might be amazed at how small the village gets when you have a special needs child. No one babysits, No one stops by. Invitations are few and far between. When friends and family withdraw from us because it's easier than trying to understand our kids better, life becomes more difficult and can be really lonely. We are human and so are our kids. We need help. We need company. Where is our village?”
It's pretty heartbreaking to imagine this world. Thanks to Friendship Circle, its the exact opposite of my world as well as many other parents of special needs kids. Walking through the doors of Friendship Circle we enter a building full of happiness, laughter, fun, love, caring, and maybe the most important one, support.
The programs Simon participates in have had such a huge impact on his life. He talks and interacts with people more, plays with other kids, is learning what it means to be Jewish, and so much more.
The Friendship Circle “village” is not just contained to their building. Many of the teen volunteers also babysit and are excited to come spend time with Simon. The ABA therapists figured out why Simon didn't want to go swimming and fixed it so we can enjoy the summer at the pool. The family supports program has been instrumental in helping so many families find the resources they need.
This is just a small sample of the impact Friendship Circle makes in our community. We'd love it if you could come walk with us in support of this incredible organization on September 14, 2025. Please consider making a donation. Every dollar helps Friendship Circle continue its amazing work.
Thanks
Jeremy, Emma, and Simon
